Food item launched by protester allegedly burst and left condiment mark on customs official, court hears
A US immigration agent has declared in court he could detect through his protective gear the collision of a food product thrown at him by a Washington DC protester, who has faced court proceedings for criminal charge.
Immigration and customs agent the officer told the legal jury the food item "burst all over him" and he "could smell the aromatic vegetables and condiment" on his official attire.
Both legal teams disputes that Sean Dunn, thirty-seven, did in fact lob obscenities and a made-to-order snack at authorities assigned by the administration to secure the Washington DC in August.
The event was filmed on video and went viral, making the accused a representation of dissent in the capital to the former president.
State lawyers initially tried to achieve major offense allegations against Mr Dunn, but a grand jury declined to prosecute him.
Trump's sending of armed forces to the federal district this summer sparked anger from some of the local inhabitants, who saw it as a politicisation of the armed forces.
Based on court papers, the accused walked up to a law enforcement team at about 11 PM on the summer date, describing them "authoritarians" and exclaiming: "Why are you here? I don't want you in my city!"
The court witnessed a demonstration from the agent on the court date as he took the stand against Mr Dunn.
"I could feel it through my ballistic vest," he stated of the item's force, mentioning that an onion string hung from his official equipment and mustard marked his uniform.
The accused's lawyer, his legal representative, stated in her initial argument that launching the food item was a "harmless gesture that did not, could not, cause injury".
But prosecutor the prosecutor said Mr Dunn must be held accountable.
"Whatever your status, you can't just go around hurling objects at others because you're upset," the attorney stated.
Subsequent to the claimed attack came to light, the accused was fired from his position as a law firm employee in the Department of Justice.
