New England Equal Best Winning Streak From Tom Brady Era with Win Over Jets
First-year player Henderson has recorded five touchdowns during the current campaign
The New England Patriots tied their top unbeaten stretch since the Brady era as they overcame division opponents the New York Jets 27-14 in professional football
Rookie Henderson was the standout with three touchdowns as the Patriots secured an eighth straight win for the initial occasion since legendary quarterback Brady's last year with the franchise in the 2019 season
QB Drake Maye accumulated 281 passing yards and a score, connecting on 25 out of 34 attempts
Victory increases the Patriots advantage at the summit of the AFC East as they advanced to nine victories against two losses, with the New York at the foot after slipping to two wins and eight losses
The Jets had taken the lead at their home field with quarterback Fields scoring a five-yard touchdown to conclude the New York's initial series
But the Patriots responded in the second quarter as the rookie scored two short rushing scores before the running back grabbed a reception from Drake Maye at the rear of the endzone midway through the third quarter to extend the lead to 21 to 7
"It was a key occasion for him delivering, and it's been great for him to keep getting these reps," the quarterback commented on the rookie. "He wants to be great."
Justin Fields connected with John Metchie late in the third period to close the gap for the Jets but Andy Borregales kicked a two kicks in the final period as the Patriots sealed the win
