Tuchel Questions Home Crowd Support Following Comfortable Wales Victory.

Thomas Tuchel expressed his disappointment that the Three Lions team did not enjoy stronger backing from the home spectators during their impressive friendly win against Wales on Thursday night.

The manager was satisfied to see his squad maintain their strong performance, with goals from Morgan Rogers, Watkins, and Bukayo Saka inside the initial stages effectively ending the contest. But, he was displeased with the energy at the national stadium.

“We had limited sessions to prepare against a organized team and we performed excellently,” the coach remarked. “It could have been five goals ahead at the break. We couldn’t score the fourth and fifth ones. The stadium was silent. There was no support back from the crowd. We did everything to win.”

“How much more can you provide in the first quarter? We didn’t let them get away. When you only hear just Wales fans for half an hour, it’s regrettable because the team earned better encouragement today.”

“I maintain this statement. We cannot do more than being three goals up in a derby. I would have wished for a bit more backing in periods where it becomes tough.”

“After halftime, to get behind us, there was a bit too much support for Wales. It might have aided us to recharge, but it is what it is and that is it.”

Squad Decisions Justified by Display

Away from potentially starting a fight with fans, Tuchel also caused a stir by omitting Jude Bellingham and Foden from his squad. However the move was backed up by Rogers delivering another standout performance in the attacking midfield role and netting his maiden goal for his country.

“He plays his game,” the head coach noted. “He is a No 10 and he is vying for his position.”

Bellamy Hopes for Improvement from Defeat

Craig Bellamy hopes that Wales, who host Belgium in a important qualifying match on Monday, learn from their poor performance in the opening period.

“This is why I wanted this match,” Bellamy commented. “I need to see our current level. What are our ambitions? Who do we want to be? This performance fills me with motivation.”

Injury Concern for Watkins

Ollie Watkins was taken off at half-time after hitting a goalpost and may miss out when England face Latvia in Riga in a World Cup qualifying match on Tuesday.
